Mawhoo Slams Life Fourways Hospital Over Alleged Poor Treatment and Discrimination

February 10, 2025

South African artist Mawhoo has taken to social media to express her frustration and anger over what she describes as poor service and discriminatory treatment at Life Fourways Hospital. In a strongly worded Facebook post, Mawhoo detailed a distressing experience where her cousin, who was reportedly very ill and struggling to breathe, was allegedly ignored by hospital staff while white patients received priority care.

“LIFE FOURWAYS HOSPITAL service is very poor, they treat people like dogs. I’ve never been embarrassed like that,” Mawhoo wrote. She went on to claim that staff were “rude and ignoring,” choosing instead to ******* ist a white couple who arrived after them. Despite her cousin’s critical condition, Mawhoo alleges that hospital personnel dismissed their pleas for urgent medical attention, responding with, “Where are we rushing?”

Mawhoo’s post didn’t shy away from addressing what she perceives as racial bias, stating, “The only people they prioritise is white people,” accompanied by a broken heart emoji to emphasize her disappointment.

The post has since gone viral, sparking widespread outrage and discussions on social media about racial discrimination and the quality of healthcare services in South Africa, even in private institutions. Many users have shared their support for Mawhoo, with some recounting similar experiences, while others have called for an official response from Life Fourways Hospital.

As of now, Life Fourways Hospital has not publicly responded to the allegations. The incident raises important questions about patient care ethics, racial equity in healthcare, and the accountability of private medical institutions in South Africa.
